THE BLOG
Thanks for visiting my official website! My name is Nolen and I am writing this blog as both a cathartic catalogue of my adventures and as an information source for those curious about how to get started traveling the world on a shoestring budget.

In this blog I intend to bring you detailed accounts of fascinating people and places; foreign work opportunities; good times, bad times, and everything in between. My life is an open book and I am making up the chapters as I go.

ABOUT ME
I graduated from Appalachian State University in May 2014 with a B.A. in English and Professional Writing, and while my resumé includes writing for a handful of small-time newspapers and nonprofits, my real passion is writing about the world and the endless experiences it holds. My unofficial resumé includes variety of odd jobs that contributed both financially and educationally to making my travels possible. In the last three years, I have been a private gardener, landscaper, construction worker, carpenter, painter, roofer, mover, whitewater rafting guide, yoga instructor, English tutor, German tutor, and street musician. Where there’s a will there’s always a way.

MUSIC
As a devout music-lover and (still undiscovered) amateur musician, I will also be posting videos of myself performing songs both original and covers songs in interesting locations as I travel. Music is an international language, so here’s to hoping that it will bridge those forthcoming communication barriers!

Feedback
I welcome any and all feedback so that I may better provide readers with more meaningful content. If you like what you see and hear, please feel free to leave a comment, and tell your friends!

    • Raimund, great to hear from you! I will have to let you know when I am heading toward Lithuania. It would be so nice to see you again!

  1. Hi Nolen, you don’t know me but I’m an old friend of your fathers. Whenever you’re in Holland and you need a place to stay near The Hague, just know that your welcome.
